Carol Minor Boyd, Ed.D., ACSW, LCSW
Chair, Department of Social Work
Delta State University,
Cleveland, Mississippi.
It would be an honor to serve BPD in the capacity of Member-at-Large. I believe that we have an obligation to serve others
and this is one way to for me to serve. I believe that I am uniquely qualified for this position because of my 13 years of
leadership experience as chair of my department. I also have served as Chair, Specialty Certification Commission for NASW,
as well as on the Competency Certification Commission. I have served on the Commission on Accreditation, serving as Co-Chair
during my last year. I am also on the Examination Committee with the ASWB.
I have been a member of BPD since 1991. Since joining, I have attended every conference, and I am currently on the Membership
Committee. Previously, I have been elected to the Nominations Committee, serving as chair during the last year of my term.
I have also served on the Fund Raising Committee.
I will be dedicated, hard working, and committed to do the job to the very best of my abilities. I want to hear from
the membership and represent you in an open, honest, and fair way.

Texas A & M International University
. Current Title: Social Work Program Director and Associate Professor
. Degrees & other credentials: Ph.D., MSW, BSW, LMSW-AP
. Institutional affiliation: Texas A & M International University
. Your unique qualifications for the position sought-I have been teaching for last 25 years and have been a program administrator
for 7 of those years, 4 as a baccalaureate program director. I lead the reaffirmation efforts in one institution and the accreditation
effort in another. I have sat on many local and several national boards including CSWE. My years of experience in teaching,
administration, scholarly research, publication, and participation on boards have given me both skills and insight about our
profession and about academe.
. Your past or current involvement with BPD-I have been a member of BPD for the last 4 years and a member of CSWE and
NASW for over 20 years.
. What you can contribute to BPD and social work education- As a baccalaureate program director and educator I have worked
not only to improve the quality of our program but have also introduced students to the world in which the people they will
work with live. I have tried to impress upon students that they can be part of social change. We live in a highly technical
society but one that is only myopically aware of the world beyond our borders. What I can contribute to BPD and social work
education is my expertise and a vision that will help us move beyond the comfort of our programs to work together not only
to improve the quality of social work education but to move our organization to continue to support efforts that advocate
for and promote social and economic justice and peace.
