BPD’s Advocacy and Outreach Committee is pleased to announce Hana Staub as the recipient of the 2008 BPD Summer Policy Fellowship.  Hana will be a May 2008 social work/psychology graduate from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina.   Hana has a minor in Spanish and has studied at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in Argentina. 

 

Hana has served as an intern with Homeless Initiative of Asheville and Buncombe Country, and volunteer on the Swannanoa Community Council advisory board, Urban Mitzvah Corps member, activity facilitator a drug rehabilitation program, resident hall advisor, and a variety of work and volunteer experience.

 

Hana has extensive research skills and experience.  In her application, Hana gave examples of her advocacy experience, and how research and advocacy fit with social work theory and practice.  As one of the committee reviewers noted, “ Hana has impressive and well-rounded experience.  She gave excellent examples of macro-level advocacy.”

 

Hana will be supervised by  Dr. Joan Levy Zlotnik, Executive Director of the Institute for the Advancement of Social Work Research in Washington, D.C.   Additionally, Hana present a summery of her summer fellowship work at the BPD Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, March 2009.
