Accomplishments for the BPD Archives and History Committee
July 2001 - June 2002
R. Ann Myers, Out-Going Archives and History Chair

This is my last submission to Update as Chair of the Archives and History Committee. The committee made some significant accomplishments last year and I wanted to share those with you.

1. Finalized policy for the Archives and History Committee for the BPD Policy Manual. Policy posted on BPD website.

2. Submitted proposals for two board sponsored sessions at the BPD annual conference in Pittsburgh. Both accepted. "Preserving Institutional Memory: The Significance of Records and Artifacts to Baccalaureate Social Work Programs" and "From Whence Did We Come Continued: The Early History of BPD in the Voices of Those Who Were There".

3. Reviewed abstracts for the BPD Fall 2002 Meeting.

4. Developed Memorial Page to be included in the Final Conference Program.

5. Materials collected to be mailed by December 31, 2002 to the Archives at University of Minnesota - Updates, Conference Programs, and The Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work.

6. Developed assignments for establishing links to other groups/organizations with whom we may be able to partner/collaborate as regards sessions at conferences (Social Welfare History Group, NASW, NACSW, Black Social Work History Group)

7. Developed assignments for seeking funding for collection of oral histories and social work educators who may have information about BPD's early history.

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Stuart from the School of Social Work at the University of Alabama will become the A&H Committee Chair. Members of BPD who are interested in serving on the Archives and History Committee are asked to indicate their interest by either e-mailing the chair [pstuart@sw.ua.edu] or by filling out the Membership Leadership Survey at the annual conference.
