FACULTY POSITION SUMMARY
The University of North Alabama invites applications
for tenure-track faculty position and Department Chairperson beginning in August 2007. Rank is open and commensurate with
qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Minimum qualifications include: MSW required with earned doctorate in Social Work or related discipline, a minimum two years
social work practice experience at the MSW level, administrative experience in a higher education setting, experience with
the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation process, administrative experience in social work field instruction,
demonstrated college teaching effectiveness, and a strong scholarly record which includes publications, on-going research,
and/or external grants. Essential to the position is the ability to effectively supervise two distinct programs while advocating
for the combined Department within the University administration. All applicants should have a high commitment to effective
classroom teaching, student advising and mentoring, professional activity, and curriculum development. Additional Chairperson
responsibilities include administering the departmental budget, strategic planning for both programs, coordinating faculty
efforts associated with CSWE accreditation standards and procedures for the BSW program, acting as liaison to the community,
and maintaining effective communication between the faculty and the University Administration. The Chairperson teaches six
semester hours each fall and spring semester and three semester hours during the eight-week summer term. To apply for this
