First, many thanks to Marshall Smith for the years he volunteered creating and maintaining the BPD website and listserv. He is a very hard act to follow. Bob Vernon has taken over the webweaver position and here are a few of the changes you can expect. First, very few changes are contemplated for the listserv. It is now hosted by the Indiana University School of Social Work. Enrollment is still controlled through Bob although he does not edit or monitor postings in any way. You may occasionally see policy questions from him, but few changes if any should be expected. The website is another story. Also hosted by the Indiana University School of Social Work, it will evolve over the next several months into what is called a “distributed system”. That's tech talk for simply having a system where individuals can directly post items to webpages by uploading a word file instead of having to mess with all that "html stuff". BPD can have several editors for the website, and these volunteers could be responsible for different sections. Imagine having a place where all those songs collected by Dwight Hymans could be accessed, or book reviews scanned, or sample syllabi distributed? Join Bob at the Reno BPD where these ideas will be explored. You can always email him at rvernon@iupui.edu.
