EFLAG Committee

Seven members of EFLAG met at the CSWE Annual Program Meeting. Business items included review of the budget, development of the budget for 2003, and rules of membership. The majority of the meeting was spent on two major agenda items: development of Board Sponsored sessions for the October 2002 BPD in Pittsburgh and assessing GLBT issues in BSW Programs.

At the fall 2002 BPD, EFLAG will co-sponsor two sessions. One will focus on the intersection and commons mechanisms of homophobia/heterosexism, racism, sexism, and classism. The Anti-Racism Committee will be asked to co-sponsor this session. Another session will be sponsored on issues of aging and intergenerational support in GLBT communities. In addition, EFLAG will facilitate a salon session/video discussion. A video will be chosen that highlights the intersection of homophobia/heterosexism, racism, and sexism with discussion to follow. Snacks will be served.

Finally, EFLAG members are developing a survey that will be mailed to all BPD BSW Chairs and Directors April 2002. The survey is designed to examine curriculum issues; the supports and environmental factors surrounding GLBT students and faculty; and department, school, and university structures and policies.
