Advocacy and Outreach Committee Report

This committee has as its focus to represent baccalaureate social work education in a number of facets involving political and community advocacy efforts. BPD is a supporting organization with the Institute for the Advancement of Social Work Research (IASWR) and the Action Network for Social Work Education and Research (ANSWER). As a BPD committee we keep up-to-date on developments within these two organizations which serve in various capacities as a political and research advocate for BSW education.

Strategically, BPD has a place on each of their respective boards and is actively involved in decision making and setting policy. It is an opportunity for BPD to link and network closely with other key social work education and practice organizations. The committee encourages participants at the next conference to attend the pre-conference workshop sponsored by BPD/IASWR titled "Research Funding for BSW Programs" and the BPD/ANSWER sponsored session titled "Update on National Center for Social Work Research".

The committee is also very interested in other professional advocacy and legislative interests of the membership so let us know other items to bring before the committee at the conference.
