Archives and History Committee Update

R. Ann Myers, Chair

Good News! The Social Welfare History Archives, which is housed in the Elmer L. Andersen Library at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis has agreed to accept the records of the Association of Social Work Baccalaureate Program Directors. The first BPD materials will be shipped to the Archives by the end of the year 2001.

Two events are occurring at the Annual BPD Meeting in Denver in which you are invited to participate:

1. Board Sponsored Session 405 - BPD History
Title, "From Where Did We Come: The Early History of BPD in the Voices of Those Who Were There". This is a chance to hear reminiscences of the formation of BPD and an invitation for participation to all members to help us capture BPD's beginnings. This session will be held on Saturday, November 3 from 8:00a.m. -8:45a.m. Peggy Pitman-Munke will facilitate the discussion.

2.Secondly, the Archives and History Committee will meet to plan for the next year's activities on Saturday from 2:45p.m. 3:30p.m.

Members of BPD who are interested in serving on the Archives and History Committee are asked to indicate their interest by either e-mailing the chair [myersry@jmu.edu] or by filling out the Membership Leadership Survey at the annual conference.
