Over the last several months, the BPD International Committee has been working on three major initiatives. First, we have
developed a BPD International Committee listserve. To date, discussion on the listserve has included international opportunities
for BSW students, suggestions for international programming, experiences of faculty lead international courses and the like.
If you wish to join this listserve contact Tim Rehner at tarehner@ocean.otr.usm.edu Our second initiative involves
a BPD International Committee website to be completed before the BPD Conference convenes in Denver. This site will be directly
linked to the BPD Home Page so you may easily access general BPD information. The International Committee website will include
information about committee members, international opportunities for BSW students, committee goals and objectives, policies
and procedures, listserve access as well as a comment section. Upon completion of the International Committee website the
BPD membership will be notified via the BPD listserve. Finally, the International Committee is conducting a Board
sponsored workshop in Denver titled, "International Program Development". Friday's workshop November 2, from 9
- 12, will address the development of international opportunities for BSW students offering various models for program and
course development. Course syllabi, course descriptions, and methods of evaluation will be available to participants.
If you are interested in participating in the International Committee meeting at BPD, we are meeting on November 2, 8
- 9 am. The location is to be determined and will be posted at the BPD egistration desk should you wish to attend. The International
Committee invites all of you to join us in any and/or all of these initiatives. So, where in the world are you and your students
going this year?
